Accessibility: Making the Walk Inclusive for All
At the Walk to Wall Street, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate, regardless of physical ability. We are committed to making this journey as accessible and inclusive as possible:
-
Accessible Routes: The public walking sections are designed to take place on accessible sidewalks and closed streets, ensuring smooth and safe participation for all, including those using wheelchairs, mobility aids, or service animals.
-
Support Services: We will have volunteers and staff available to assist anyone who may need additional support, whether that’s physical assistance or guidance along the route. If you require an escort, please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.
-
ASL Interpretation and Amplification: At our major rallies in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and New York City, we will provide ASL interpretation and sound amplification to ensure that everyone can fully engage with the event. Seating will also be available for those who need it.
-
Flexible Participation: We understand that walking looks different for everyone. Whether you join us for a portion of the route or participate in spirit, your involvement is deeply valued. There’s no requirement to complete the entire distance—every step you take, in whatever form, helps drive the message of DE&I forward.
If you have specific accessibility needs or questions about participating in the walk, please reach out to Vanessa Bowling Ajavon at info@walktowallstreet.org or 202-838-1041. We are here to ensure that everyone can be part of this historic event.
Join the Walk to Wall Street: A Historic Route for Change
The Walk to Wall Street is a 240+ mile journey from Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to Wall Street in New York City, and you’re invited to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime movement for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in Corporate America. Our route takes us through some of the most iconic cities and neighborhoods in the country, where we will rally, walk, and unite communities in support of meaningful change.
Public Route Sections: Be a Part of History
In each key city along the route, we’ve designated public walking sections where you can join us and make your voice heard. These sections are open to everyone who believes in the power of DE&I and wants to take a stand for a more inclusive future. Whether you walk a mile or the entire section, your participation is vital to the success of this journey.
Key Cities and Dates:
Each public route section is approximately 2 miles long and is designed to be accessible and engaging. By signing up for a section, you’ll be walking alongside advocates, community leaders, and fellow supporters, all united in a shared mission to transform Corporate America.
